Bringing Wagner's Ring Cycle to Sydney  ·  2028

Following the historic Australian premiere of Jonathan Dove's arrangement of Das Rheingold in April 2025, we want nothing more than to bring the next chapter of the Ring Cycle to life.

01Our Journey So Far

A Historic Achievement

In April 2025, Shaumet Music proudly presented the Australian premiere of Jonathan Dove's arrangement of Richard Wagner's Das Rheingold at Sydney's City Recital Hall.

Produced in arrangement with the Birmingham Opera Company and supported by the Wagner Society NSW, the production brought together an extraordinary cast of seasoned and emerging artists, a dedicated creative team, and an audience passionate about making ambitious opera possible. It showed what can be achieved when a community comes together around a shared artistic vision.

02The Next Chapter

Die Walküre
Continuing the Ring

Following the success of Das Rheingold, we have begun exploring the possibility of presenting the next instalment of Wagner's Ring Cycle.

We have sat down with our director and conductor to discuss what it would take to bring this monumental work to Sydney audiences in 2028. The artistic passion is entirely there. The vision is clear. The challenge lies in ensuring the resources are in place before we can commit to moving forward.

03Why We Need You Now

A work of this magnitude is a mammoth undertaking — and we cannot rely solely on the financial sacrifice of our artists to sustain it.

Our production of Das Rheingold was an absolute triumph, but it was only possible because nearly everyone involved — our cast of seasoned and emerging singers, our creative team, and our orchestra — generously worked through in-kind contributions or for nominal honorariums.

As a small, independent organisation, our resources are incredibly limited. Between venue hire, production costs, and fair compensation, the financial hurdle is steep. We want to continue this journey — but we can only commit to Die Walküre if we have the foundation necessary to support it.

04How Your Support Helps

Every contribution lights the way forward

Your support provides the vital green light — going directly towards the essential costs of bringing Die Walküre to life.

06A Community That Makes Opera Possible

Built on generosity

The success of Das Rheingold was built on the generosity of artists, volunteers, supporters, donors, and audience members who believed in the project.

Every rehearsal, every performance, and every artistic achievement was made possible by a community willing to invest in the future of opera. We hope to build that community once again as we bring Die Walküre to Sydney.
