Mr. Keeson Perkins-Treacher
Flute Teacher
Born and raised in New Zealand, Keeson Perkins-Treacher is a Sydney-based flutist who recently graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a Master’s degree specialising in orchestral flute performance. During his studies, he was taught by NZSO flutes Bridget Douglas, Kirstin Eade, and Johanna Gruskin. He regularly travels between Australia and New Zealand, performing with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Wellington,
and the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, where he was recently appointed Principal Flute.
While based in Sydney, he currently studies with former Principal Flute of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Joshua Batty, and performs in chamber ensembles featuring guitar and harp. Keeson currently teaches at Danebank Anglican Girls school in Hurstville.
A recent career highlight includes recording the soundtrack for The Minecraft Movie with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in late 2024, composed by Mark Mothersbaugh. He can be seen performing second flute in this clip:
